Bridges of Peace at ENAD

From 27 to 28 January 2026, Amitiés Luxembourg Arménie (ALA) and Maat for Peace successfully implemented the workshop “Bridges of Peace: Enhancing the Role of Youth in Peace and Security in the Euro-Mediterranean” at ENAD in Luxembourg City.

Organized under the framework of a mobility action and in partnership with ENAD and FSL – Formation et Sensibilisation de Luxembourg, the workshop brought together civil society actors across the Euro-Mediterranean region to strengthen intercultural dialogue and promote peacebuilding efforts.

Facilitated by a representative of Maat for Peace, the workshop engaged 20 students from the Second Chance School, aged 18–25, and focused on building their capacities in peacebuilding and conflict transformation.

Over the two days, participants explored the important role young people play in creating and sustaining peace, while developing practical skills and innovative ideas for conflict prevention and reconciliation.

Key outcomes of the workshop:

  • 20 young participants gained a deeper understanding of the key concepts and frameworks related to youth participation in peacebuilding processes.
  • Participants increased their awareness of initiative design, positive peace, and peacebuilding approaches, including conflict prevention, mediation, and reconciliation.
  • 5 practical solutions for everyday conflicts were co-created, based on the pillars of the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda and United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16.
  • 5 youth-led initiatives and counter-narrative campaigns were developed to address peacebuilding, combat hate speech and extremism, and tackle mis/disinformation.

This workshop highlights the importance of empowering youth as active peacebuilders and reinforces the value of intercultural cooperation in building more peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The workshop was funded by Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures, ALF
